Scent Detection for Fun!

Service Description

This class runs 4 consecutive weeks plus an online orientation prior to class start. No classes on long weekends. Research shows that encouraging your dog to use their sense of smell is beneficial to reducing stress and anxiety. It is also a great way to exercise body and mind without requiring significant space while developing an amazing new skill. The class is an introduction to scent detection using “handler scent”. We start searching containers and end the class with searching rooms for “articles”. The overall goal of the class is to provide a fun activity that is highly rewarding and mentally stimulating for your dog. Concepts from class can be transferred to scent detection using essential oils if you plan to compete in SDDA trials. The style of scent detection in our class is excellent preparation for tracking and other scent based activities. Containers for scent detection are included in the cost of the class.
